The study is about “successful company founders in high-growth industries” , as opposed to the broader, largely meaningless category of ‘people who start their own business’.
Notable (and counter-intuitive) for many:
- The median age of the entrepreneur is 40 years old – contrary to the image of the young Mark Zuckerberg skipping classes at Harvard.
- 95.1% have college degrees, and 47% have advanced degrees – dispelling the myth of the college-dropout as a prerequisite qualification for entrepreneurial success.
- Arizona has the highest rate of entrepreneurial activity – as opposed to New York, Boston or even Silicon Valley.
